Remaking of our Digipak

We had both worked together on this and thought maybe a screen recording would be the easiest way to present our skills on Adobe Photoshop.
Editing done by Jodie. (50ish minutes of recording fit into 2:54)

Construction of the Website Pt.2

When we had completed the first draft of our webpage. We then got feedback from the target audience from around the local area and they all said that our webpage lacked a main banner or image that introduced the whole band and also there title. So Jodie created a banner design that would cover the top of the webpage.

As you can see this banner design is affective because it has images of the band members and also the band name. This gives the audience a chance to look at the whole band when they first load up the site. I made the link buttons big this makes them stand out more so that the audience will have a greater chance of seeing them and using them.
We also made the button design 3D because we thought this looked more professional.

We also had the idea of adding in links to the band members individual social networking accounts. This gives the audience a chance to see what they are like personally and will attract more of an audience.

This the connect box that we designed for the website. This is designed so that the target audience can follow the individual band members and personalise with them. We already had the photos from the shoot that we did but Jodie put the images together and gave them to me. This is where I uploaded them and gave them different coloured Twitter icons, I gave them different colour ones so that they seemed more individual.

This is the construction of the connections item. (Creating the links.)

Changes Made Due to Feedback

Since looking at our constructive feedback, we have been making adjustments to our video according to what our target audience have written. Since have a limited time and budget, we haven't been able to re-shoot any footage to add to our narrative. This means that we have had to re edit our existing footage to improve the storyline.

We started off by adjusting the colour correction to make the transitions between shots run smoother. We did this by adjusting the filter ratios on the individual clips.

We also received some feedback about the tempo of which the shots were cut to, which made the video appear "disjointed" from the song. So to fix this issue, we reused the clip made for multiclip and adjusted it to the tempo and made sure the clips fit the beat.

The new multi-clip section that we added.
Other comments made, included points about the band not being "zombified" at the end enough. There is no way for us to over exaggerate the fact they are undead beings, however we have added an overlay to a selection of the shots to change the colour correction to change it slightly over exposed.

A few more comments were people saying about how there needed to be a few more shots of the band together and how the femme fatal character does not appear in the majority of the video. This is mixed views as some think it adds to the suspense, whereas others do not agree and think it makes the narrative appear a bit vague and unclear.

This the record company title we added at the end.

First draft of digipak

After finishing the first draft of the design of the digipak, we printed it off and got one of our band members to model with it.

Construction of the Website

We decided to construct the website on Wix.com which is an online website creator and is a simple way to construct webpages because it has ready to use templates and also easy editing tools. Once we had picked the template that we found on the band template section we opened up the edit page and started to create FranKo's page. We found an issue as soon as we had started editing and this was that we couldn't upload any images inside of school as the servers had ban this function so we had to do this when we where at home or using another connection. So first we started on the tour section of the page where we had to create both venues and also dates. The dates would have to put in would have to be relevant to when the album release is because the whole point of the tour is to promote the album and encourage the audience to buy it. Even though this isn't the case in the music industry at the moment because of increase of illegal downloading which means that all the money is being made from live performances and shows. We then based our dates on the album release date and found venues that would suit our target audience.

These are the dates and venues that we decided on.
We also decided to make our webpage fully connective so we added in social network buttons that would be linked to FranKo's Twitter, Facebook and Myspace pages.

These are networking buttons that we have added to the page.
This is our webpage in progress. As you can see we are adding in the written details first and then working on the design.

Digipak first draft, digital

Digipak - Putting it Together

changing the design to fit the theme

and again...

redesigning the logo because of how pixelated it got.

arranging the logo so it wouldn't interfere with the song titles.

Adding in the barcode, bands actual website, the recored company and our production logo.

Changing the background so that the image fits the theme of the digipak.

using one of thew images taken from the "photoshoot with danny and charles"

deciding the image in red didn't suit the theme.

sorting the spine out.

Introduction Banner

When designing our music video I thought that I would put the title of the song in so that the viewer knew what song they where listening to and also the name of the band. I looked at several different music banners from across several different channels that play to our target audience and decided on a look for my banner. I decided to use bright colours and also to incorporate the MTV Rocks logo because this is an example of a channel that would air our music video and appeal to our target audience. To make this introduction banner I chose to use the program Motion which is made by Apple and I chose this program because I already had an understanding of how to use it and you can incorporate it with Final Cut Pro as they are both made by Apple. First I made the banner box where the track name is displayed and I made this in Adobe Photoshop as I knew how to use this already and I created a box and added a brush stroke over it to make it seem more textured. I then added in the text over the top of the box and saved it as a JPEG file. From here I could then simply drag it into Motion and add the animation to it and this wasn't a complicated animation I got the image to move slowly into frame from the bottom. I then saved this as a Quicktime movie and I could then import this straight into our Final Cut project.

Motion the program I used to create the animation.

This the introduction banner that I made on Photoshop that will appear at the beginning and end of our music video.

Digipak - The Spine

For the Spine of the digipak, we looked at how we could display the text and how we would position it.
This is a screenshot of me experimenting with the different scales and styles. Since the franko logo we used seemed to pixelate when I reduced the size, I took it upon myself to recreate it by using a different font and editing it to look almost exactly identical.
